M&P Apparently Closing Down

M&P, one of the Britain’s leading motorcycle dealerships, appears to have closed down. Although there has been no formal announcement of the company going into administration, there are signs online that M&P may have ceased trading. On 24th September, M&P’s online face, Mike Morgan, posted on the facebook page, “The last one from me. Thank you for everything – M,” plus a black graphic of the M&P logo with the words ‘1978-2025 Ride in Peace.’ Within 24 hours, there were over 500 responses posted by M&P customers, some expressing their sadness at the apparent closure.

According to news website VisorDown, the M&P website was no longer accepting orders, with official messages putting this down to a store update or website maintenance. Access to M&P’s individual Facebook pages (such as M&P KTM) had also been restricted.

Since opening its first store in 1978, M&P has grown into a major dealership, selling Honda, Ducati, Royal Enfield and Kawasaki as well as KTM and several other brands. Earlier this year, M&P was bought by an investor group, but this was later followed by closure of its Harley-Davidson dealership, as well as its Swansea outlet.

At the BMF, chair Jim Freeman said, “Another sign o the times. We remember using the M & P catalogue as a parts bible, but that was a very long time ago. Then came Wemoto and the hordes on Ebay… Was there any ‘90s ‘Street Fighter’ project without some Chinesium bits from M&P on it?”
