About us The British Motorcyclists Federation (BMF) exists to safeguard the rights of all British motorcyclists. The BMF is a long established and effective lobbying group. It protects UK motorcyclists from interference by National and Local Government and anti-motorcycling campaign groups. The BMF is a member of many government advisory groups. The BMF is also a fantastic community, made up of individual members and motorcycle clubs, it provides support, advice and organises excellent events throughout the UK. Campaigning for riders’ rights The BMF is one of the largest rider groups in the world and has existed since the 1960s. We are a non-profit organisation run by elected volunteers, providing motorcyclists with a voice through specialist lobbyists like the National Motorcyclists Council [NMC] and a network of volunteers across the UK. The BMF successfully campaigns on issues that directly affect the liberty, safety and security of motorcyclists. The BMF educates and informs, and through its successful lobbying has defeated such ill-conceived ideas as leg-protectors and the 100bhp limit restriction. We lobby MPs, ministers, commissioners and committees to ensure that your views and concerns are heard. Promoting safety, increasing skills and better riding. The BMF actively promotes safety through education and encouraging mental health first aid, via Mental Health Motorbikes, first on scene skills, via Biker Down and our own Advanced Riding Courses , the Blue Riband Advanced Rider Course A love of motorcycling The BMF is managed by people who love motorcycling. No matter what they ride, our members want to be able to continue to ride motorcycles in the ways they enjoy. We all want to ensure our children and grandchildren will have the opportunity to enjoy riding in the future. As a non-profit organisation, we rely on our members for funding and support. As a member, you would be part of the community of individuals and affiliated clubs which help make the BMF such a powerful voice in campaigning and safeguarding the rights of motorcyclists. Groups and clubs The benefits offered by the BMF attract more than 200 affiliated motorcycle clubs – a massive community of fellow motorcyclists. They too, realise the importance of the successes of the BMF for motorcycling today. Affiliated clubs benefit from a special public liability insurance package, and their members enjoy many of the advantages offered to individual BMF members. Individual Members The bedrock of the BMF is it’s individual membership. The BMF has 7,500 members who receive their own dedicated magazine, Motorcycle Rider, regular newsletters, access to all the social media channels and website. The BMF is the voice of it’s members.
