BMF helps fund Enhanced security in Liverpool ahead of Isle of Man TT

BMF Joins Forces with regional police forces, Liverpool City Council and the National Vehicle Crime Reduction Partnership (NVCRP) to deliver enhanced parking security for motorcyclists travelling to next week’s TT races.

With the Isle of Man TT races taking place from Monday 26 May to Saturday 7 June, the BMF is helping to fund enhanced security measures for racegoers on their motorcycles stopping off in Liverpool to enjoy the city, before they continue to the Isle of Man by ferry.

“Op Needle” is a multi-agency initiative, coordinated by Liverpool City Council, designed to prevent theft of and from motorcycles, and to identify, disrupt and bring to justice anyone involved in motorcycle theft.

Additional security measures will be in place in Liverpool from this weekend as the city welcomes motorcyclists and racegoers from across the world in the run up to the Isle of Man TT Races. The aim is to ensure that motorcyclists stopping off in Liverpool have an enjoyable and crime-free trip with safe parking and enhanced security provided for their bikes whilst they enjoy the delights of the city of Liverpool.

Jim Freeman, BMF’s Chair said:

” The BMF is pleased to support this anti-crime initiative, working in partnership with the Police and local Council to ensure motorcyclists have a safe and enjoyable time in Liverpool en route to the TT races.

Motorcycle theft is unfortunately a continuing problem and the BMF is determined to work with the Police and other agencies to tackle it, including through the provision of safer motorcycle parking and enhanced security measures on the ground to deter organised criminal activity.

Alongside the usual measures taken by motorcyclists to secure their bikes, these additional security measures, including enhanced CCTV surveillance of parking areas alongside intelligence-led police activity, should make a real difference for motorcyclists from around the world travelling to Isle of Man TT races.”
