The Scottish National Road Rally 2026

11th & 12th September 2026  **Entries NOW OPEN**

The BEST excuse ever for a “Ride out!”

Ride the best roads in the Scotland, meet fellow riders and test you navigational skills to achieve a Platinum Rally award.

The Scottish National Road Rally (SNRR) is one of the three NATIONS of navigational motorcycle road rallies organised by the Auto Cycle Union (ACU).

The original ACU National Road Rally was first run in 1933, and will soon celebrate its centenary. The Navigational Road Rally (U.K.) was originally a distance rally for motorcycle manufacturers to test the reliability of their machines. In modern times the rally has evolved
into a navigational scatter rally and now encompasses 3 National Rallies.

  • The Welsh National Road Rally (WNRR) in May
  • The National Road Rally NRR (England) in July and
  • The Scottish National Road Rally (SNRR) in September

The Scottish National Road Rally will take place on the 11th & 12th of September 2026

Entries are now open and will close on the 1st September

Entry Fees:

£35 rider

£10 for pillion

Whatever you ride, ride it in the National Road Rallies.

The idea is that you plan a route to ride your motorcycle around some of the best roads in the Scotland, visiting as many different controls as possible (typically Motorcycle Clubs or Bike friendly cafes). The event is open to mopeds, scooters, motorcycles, three-wheelers, quadricycles and motorcycles and scooters with sidecars. There are a large number of controls to choose from. The number of controls each rider visits creates the award a rider is trying to achieve. The route can be anywhere from 5 to over 20 controls and involve rides over some of the finest roads and countryside in the U.K… Riders often ride individually, some as teams, and many for their own charitable causes.

The list of controls, is issued 10 days before the day and part of the challenge is plotting your route that complies with the level of challenge you choose to ride. The rules dictate that riders visit a specific number of Controls and in the case of the NRR by using specific routes to
achieve a Bronze Silver Gold or Platinum award.

The best thing to do is to have 2 or 3 different routes to allow for on the day changes you may need to take, the beauty is that you can change routes with no penalty, as the final award you want to go for is decided at the end of your event.

Riders use a GPS tacking App that records their arrival at each control location. The ACU publishes the riders results and awards achieved on National Road Rally website after the event.

Riders have to be UK residents and have a FULL UK or IOM motorcycle licence.

Full details available in the ACU website supplementary regulations.

The ACU website and the Facebook groups for each event have many posts from riders with their experiences, always a fun ride!
