New Honda Museum Opens in Rome

If your thoughts are already turning next year’s summer holiday, then Rome could be a good choice, with a new museum dedicated to Hondas opening there soon. The Honda Classic Museum will showcase the legendary oval-piston NR750 as well as a whole collection of historic Honda road and race bikes. Not only that, but the collection will be rotated on a regular basis, to keep it fresh.

The museum is owned by Honda Moto Roma, said to be the largest Honda dealer in Europe, and judging by the collection of Honda bigwigs who turned up for the official opening on 26th November 2025, it’s seen as a significant moment for the company. Mr Okuda, President of Honda Motor Europe and Mr Kawahara (General Manager of Honda Motor Company) were there, as well as several other Honda top brass.

The NR750 forms the centrepiece of the new museum, along with a dismantled 32-valve oval-piston engine – the bike is the one used by Loris Capirossi to set two Guinness World Records at the Nardo high speed track in 1993, 176.19mph over 10 miles from a standing start, and 186.30mph over the flying mile. Race bikes ridden by Nicky Hayden, Wayne Gardner, Max Biaggi and many others will also feature.

The BMF’s chair, Jim Freeman said: “That sounds wonderful and well worth a visit. Let’s see now, the Colosseum, the Vatican and Honda ! ”
