at Muncaster Castle   September 13th to 15th 2024

We are keeping the laid back style for this rally, with a slight festival feel twist to it!

There will be live music, fantastic food, a rally bar, traders, all in an amazing venue steeped in history and not to forget it’s an excellent ride-out location to explore the fabulous Cumbrian countryside.

Why The Lucky Cup Rally?  – we decided to recognise the history and the tale of the drinking bowl left by Henry VI.

THE LUCK of MUNCASTER

In 1464 Sir John Pennington gave shelter to Henry VI, wandering after the Battle of Hexham. Many years later in 1783, John, Lord Muncaster erected the tower known as Chapels to commemorate the place where the fugitive King was supposed to have been found by the shepherds. The legend tells how King Harry on his departure left his drinking bowl behind in gratitude, saying that as long as it should remain quite whole and unbroken the Penningtons would live and thrive in the place. Today the Venetian glass bowl is still intact and is known as the ‘Luck of Muncaster’.

Muncaster Castle venue tickets will be available to purchase at a special rally goers price, either with your rally ticket or on showing your wristband at the ticket office over the weekend.

Hawk & Owl Centre – is found within the gardens of Muncaster Castle is open daily. The Centre and the inspiring flying displays are included in your Castle grounds ticket. The Centre comprises the lawned Owl Garden with aviaries and mews, plus the adjacent Old Rose Garden where there is a flying arena. The Centre is home to a diverse range of birds for you to wonder at and enjoy, from massive to minute and bizarre to familiar but all rarely seen up-close.

(PLEASE NOTE that no dogs are allowed in the Hawk & Owl Centre which includes the Old Rose Garden arena (assistance dog handlers – please contact us for advice) but are welcome in the Owl Garden Tearoom, at the entrance to the Centre. The second flying display is on the flying meadow – there is a doggy seating area for your dog and you to enjoy at this display.)

Castle Gardens – 77 acres of the most tranquil historic gardens in Cumbria; with a blend of cultivated areas, lawns and woodlands together with play areas and the Enchanted Trail for smaller visitors! There is always a quiet corner even on busier days and miles of paths and fascinating vistas to discover and explore. Dog friendly

Plenty to see and do, all the above also the rally has a fantastic ‘barn’ festival area, with open air/undercover seating, chilling out area, bar, local food vendors, and a great live music stage area.
